While everyone in Florida is beginning to enjoy springtime – Florida style – some of my fans are still enduring winter, with unexpected snow in April. I know, flowers are suppose to be blooming, or at least popping up under the winter’s dirt. However, Oscar and Buttercup are enjoying the spring hatches… ducklings in the pond and baby squirrels in the palm tree just off our patio. Occasionally, the hawks swoop down and try to get baby birds. That’s when the Scrub Jays (Florida’s version of a Blue Jay) start screeching thereby forcing the hawk to flee – usually. Oscar and Buttercup are a permanent fixture on our 2nd floor patio watching all this action.
Buttercup was distracted for a moment so I could capture her photo. Soon after the camera shot, she was back to viewing the wildlife below. On sunny days, we can see a few turtles sunning themselves on the pond bank. However, a couple of buildings down and on the golf course side of the pond, some days that big ole gator is sunning on the pond bank as well. Yes, I wrote gator… meaning alligator – reportedly eight feet in length. I hope to see that gator one day and take his photo.
Hope this finds you enjoying spring blooms, and thawing out from the cold nasty winter weather.
Happy Spring!
Love and Hugs,
Oscar, Buttercup and their Human – Rosemary
